Azerbaijani and UAE parliaments cooperate successfully within international and regional organizations

On May 14, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Maryam Majid Bin Theneya, Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in Bukhara.
The conversation highlighted that relations between the two countries are developing in an atmosphere of brotherhood, mutual respect, trust, and support. Both parties emphasized the special significance of the joint efforts of the countries' leaders and high-level reciprocal visits in elevating bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation within international organizations. They noted that both countries successfully collaborate and demonstrate mutual support within international and regional bodies such as the UN, the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The Speaker of the Milli Majlis hailed the participation of UAE parliamentary representatives in the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established on the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The discussion also touched upon the importance of the Second Asian Women's Forum and the significance of the issues debated there. They noted that such parliamentary platforms are of great importance for discussing bilateral cooperation matters.
Reflecting the spirit of relations between the two nations, it was emphasized that successful ties have been established between both legislative bodies. Cooperation on both a bilateral basis and within international parliamentary organizations has led to positive outcomes in this field.
Furthermore, they underlined the importance of inter-parliamentary friendship groups in developing these ties. The role of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Milli Majlis and the UAE Federal National Council was also highlighted as a key document for the further expansion of cooperation.
