Azerbaijani FM meets with delegation of Paraguayan Parliament

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has met with the delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Paraguay - Chairman of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, as well as head of the Paraguay-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Walter Enrique Harms Sespedes and Chairman of the Paraguay-Azerbaijan Friendship Group in the Senate Lucas Orlando Aquino Jara.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the relations between the two countries, adding that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the development of relations with Paraguay. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the visits of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan to Paraguay in 2019, as well as the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan in 2022, and the meetings held in this regard contributed to bilateral relations. The Minister noted that inter-parliamentary friendship groups, including parliamentary diplomacy, play an important role in the development of relations between the two countries. The great activity of the members of the Paraguay-Azerbaijan Friendship Group, demonstrated in issues related to Azerbaijan, as well as the adoption by the Paraguayan Parliament of a resolution in connection with Khojaly, were noted with gratitude. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also briefed the Paraguayan parliamentarians on the grave consequences of the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the new realities in the region after the 44-day Patriotic war, as well as the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the region and the steps taken towards peacebuilding. Noting that two young diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Paraguay are currently participating in the training program in Azerbaijan, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that such exchanges play a positive role in the development of bilateral relations.
The members of the delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Paraguay, in their turn, highly appreciated the visit to Azerbaijan and the meetings held in this framework, as well as the visit to the liberated territories, noting the importance of this visit in terms of familiarizing with the situation in the country on the ground. They emphasized that Paraguay has always respected the norms and principles of international law, and thus has supported the just position of Azerbaijan. The opposite side expressed interest in developing relations with Azerbaijan and noted the importance of the visit in terms of identifying potential areas of cooperation.
At the meeting, the sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
