Azerbaijan`s Permanent Mission to UN sends letter to organization`s Secretary General
Baku, July 27 (AZERTAC). The Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations has sent a letter to the organization`s Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
The letter draws attention to the statements of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on 22 June and during the official visit to Ukraine and at the First Army Conference of Young Officers on 9 July. It says, “these statements represent the most cynical examples of blatant misinterpretation and distortion of the root causes, course and consequences of the war unleashed by Armenia against Azerbaijan”.
The letter also informs the UN official of the ongoing violations of ceasefire by the armed forces of Armenia, recorded for June. During this period the armed forces of Armenia violated the ceasefire 55 times. As a result, one Azerbaijani civilian was killed and one serviceman of the armed forces of Azerbaijan was seriously wounded.
The letter recalls that Armenia defies four UN Security Council Resolutions calling for withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
