Azeri composer invited as jury to International Mozart Competition in Austria
Baku, February 23 (AZERTAC). Azeri composer and pianist, the chairwoman of the Composers` Union of Azerbaijan Firangiz Alizadeh participated as a jury in the 10th International Mozart Competition held by the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in Austria from 9 to 19 February.
The competition brought together musicians from different countries.
A composition by representative of Berlin-Weissensee Art Academy Firangiz Alizadeh was included to the violin program along with Arnold Schönberg, Igor Stravinsky, Anton Vebern, and Sergey Prokovyev.
Competitors performed Furangiz Alizadeh`s “Saga” (“Dastan”).
Firangiz Alizadeh is best known for her works which combine the musical tradition of the Azerbaijani mugham and 20th century Western compositional techniques, especially those of Arnold Schönberg and Gara Garayev. Her works have been performed by Yo-Yo Ma and the Kronos Quartet.
