AZERI FOREIGN MINISTER EXCHANGES VIEWS WITH NATO
Baku, October 1 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov visited NATO Headquarters on Friday to have an exchange of views with the Alliance`s Deputy Secretary General Claudio Bisogniero.
The delegation included deputy ministers of National Security, Emergency Situations, Deputy Chief of State Border Service and officials of Defense and Interior ministries.
During the meeting the Azerbaijani delegation also attended a meeting with the North Atlantic Council in 28+1 format.
The sides exchanged views on NATO`s new Strategic Concept, Azerbaijan-NATO relations, implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), regional security issues, reform of the security sector in Azerbaijan, as well as settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
During the discussion, NATO Allies recognized Azerbaijan as a credible and committed partner to the Alliance. They thanked Azerbaijan for the support for NATO`s mission in Afghanistan with troops, overflight rights and civilian reconstruction.
Allies also noted with appreciation the broad range of cooperation developed in the context of the Individual Partnership Action Plan and Azerbaijan`s contribution to the discussions on NATO`s new Strategic Concept, to be adopted at the upcoming Lisbon Summit.
