Azeri Speaker meets participants of “Building bridges over borders” conference
Baku, October 12 (AZERTAC). Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov has met with participants of the international conference on “Building bridges over borders”.
Asadov highly praised Baku`s hosting such an important event organized by the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly and Baltic Assembly.
The Azerbaijani Speaker noted discussions on energy cooperation, regional security, European integration, scientific cooperation and other issues shows importance of such meetings. “These topics are hot for GUAM PA and Baltic Assembly member states. Expansion of relations between such regional organizations is important for us. Both organizations should contribute to strengthening ties between the countries,” he added.
Asadov also pointed out that Azerbaijani side pays `great` attention to cooperation with the member states of Baltic Assembly. “Integration into Europe is one of priority directions of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy. This jointly organized conference is also significant for its contribution to raising awarness of people living in such large geographical territory about the region,” the Azerbaijani Speaker said.
Speaking in the meeting, Baltic Assembly`s Vice President Yanis Reirs stressed that draft document on conference outcomes highlights importance of settlement of the conflicts in the GUAM area on the basis of international law norms.
GUAM PA chairman Anatoli Dimitriou thanked Azerbaijani parliament for hosting the conference and added that discussed issues are significant for the region.
