Baku Declaration signed on establishment of Turkic Union of Composers

On September 19, the constituent meeting of the First Congress of Composers of the Turkic World was held at the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation on the sidelines of the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival. Representatives of leading musical institutions from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Hungary attended the meeting.
Speaking at the opening of the event, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova stated that the congress holds special significance for the musical community of the Turkic world. She noted that, in line with the Foundation’s mission, the initiative to hold the first large-scale Congress of Composers of the Turkic World was put forward jointly with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.
“The goal of this new international professional platform is to bring together composers, musicologists, performers, music education institutions and leading musical organizations of the Turkic world countries, and to contribute to the development of professional cooperation among them. It is particularly symbolic that this historic step is being taken within the framework of the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival,” Aktoty Raimkulova emphasized.
As part of the congress, the Turkic Union of Composers (TUC) was established, and the Baku Declaration on the establishment of the Union was signed.
At the conclusion of the event, membership certificates and credentials were presented to the participants.
The primary goal of establishing the Turkic Union of Composers is to unite the creative potential of the Turkic world, strengthen professional cooperation among composers and musical organizations, support modern schools of composition, contribute to the creation of new works, and promote the music of Turkic peoples on prestigious international stages.
