Baku held presentation of website about Azerbaijani carpets
Baku, February 7 (AZERTAC). The presentation of a file, documentary and website (www.carpet.intangble.az) constructed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan for UNESCO has been held today at the Museum Center.
The aim of the event is to introduce rich cultural heritage and traditions of Azerbaijani carpet to the world community.
The event started with the screening of the film about Azerbaijani carpets.
Addressing the ceremony, Azerbaijan minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev spoke about the history of Azerbaijani carpet and stressed the position of Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva`s initiative in the popularizing of Azerbaijani carpets worldwide. He underlined the orders and degrees regarding carpets by Azerbaijan`s President. Garayev expressed his regret over the fact that Azerbaijani carpets are presented in foreign countries as Armenian ones and underscored the importance of including Azerbaijani carpets to the list of UNESCO intangible heritage list.
Director of Azerbaijan State Museum of Carpet and Applied Arts Roya Tagiyeva and candidate of art studies Togrul Afandiyev made speeches at the event.
The participants of the event familiarized themselves with the book “Azerbaijani carpet” by Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
