BRIEFING ON INT’L FORUM DEDICATED TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES
Opening the briefing, head of the UNDP liaison department in Azerbaijan Fargan Abaszade noted that the Forum is a part of the preparatory phase to the world summit on information society that will be held by UN and International Tele-communication Association on 10-12 December in Geneva.
Senior consultant of UNDP Sultan Hajiyev updated on the Forum and on the work done by UNDP in the field of ICT. He said: “The key goal of the arrangement comprising two phases – conduction of discussions for the member-countries on the topic of national strategy and electronic management of the information-communication technologies”.
It was noted that at the Forum will be determined much more effective ways of solving problems for development of the country, accrued in connection with preparation, realization, evaluation and financing of national strategies on ICT, strategy and partners for the spheres that need UNDP assistance, realization of necessary works, searched opportunities of cooperation with numerous international structures and experts.
The Forum to last up to 8 November will be attended by representatives of the state structures from 24 countries of the Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, over ten international organizations, responding for development of ICT.
