COMMANDER OF AZERBAIJAN NAVY VISITING PAKISTAN
Baku, September 29 (AZERTAC). Commander of Azerbaijan Navy, Vice Admiral Shahin Sultanov is visiting Pakistan, according to Azeri embassy to the country.
During the trip, Sultanov met with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir, Chairman of the Joint of Staff Committee, general Tariq Majid, Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Kayani, Pakistan Air Force chief Rao Suleman and Minister of Defense Ahmed Mukhtar.
Azerbaijan`s embassy to Pakistan has held an official reception in honor of Azeri Commander of Azerbaijan Navy, with attendance of a number of Pakistani high-ranked officers.
Speaking to the reception, Azerbaijan`s charge d`affaires to Pakistan Dahsgin Shikarov praised bilateral relations between the two countries, saying “Azerbaijan and Pakistan are backing each others` stances within international organizations”.
According to Shikarov, construction of the school for girls in Pakistan`s Muzaffarabad at the initiative of President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva and Azerbaijan`s providing humanitarian aid to Pakistan in accordance with President Ilham Aliyev`s instructions is the manifestation of importance the country attaches to cooperation with Pakistan.
He stressed Azerbaijan highly appreciates Pakistan`s non-recognizing Armenia`s independence as it occupied Azerbaijan` territories.
Pakistan`s Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir said Pakistan pays special attention to relations with Azerbaijan, adding “we will always back Azerbaijan`s stance”.
