Confucius Institute to open in Baku next year
Baku, December 4 (AZERTAC). Rector of Baku State University (BSU), academician Abel Maharramov met Chinese ambassador to Azerbaijan Zhang Yannian Friday to discuss opening of a Confucius Institute at the University.
Rector Abel Maharramov touched on the agreement between BSU and Anhui University on establishment of the Confucius Institute. The Confucius Institute is expected to open in April 20, 2011.
Anhui University will annually send qualified teachers of Chinese language and culture to the Confucius Institute and provide textbooks, manuals and audio materials for the educational process.
The Anhui University will annually conduct courses for students of the Confucius Institute.
Yannian expressed satisfaction with the level of Chinese language courses at the BSU.
He said the diplomatic corps is interested in popularization of Chinese language and culture, organization of competition at the BSU and one-year training for its winners in China.
