Deputy PM: Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to developing cooperation with Russia
Baku, October 5(AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s deputy prime minister Yagub Eyyubov has said his country attaches a particular importance to developing cooperation with Russia.
“We place a special emphasis on developing our cooperation with the Russian Federation, including its federal districts,” Eyyubov told a Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin.
The Russian delegation includes over 100 representatives from North Caucasian region of Russia, including Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, President of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov, President of North Ossetia-Alania Teimuraz Mamsurov and Dagestan leader Magomedsalam Magomedov.
Eyyubov said regular meetings of the Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents gave impetus to developing the relations between the two countries.
On the economic cooperation, he said Azerbaijan signed trade and economic agreements with many federal districts of Russia.
“Last year the trade between Azerbaijan and the North Caucasus Federal district made nearly 262 million US dollars.”
“We want to elevate this cooperation to a qualitatively new level in terms of trade and mutual projects.”
Khloponin said the Russian government planned to implement a series of large scale investment projects in North Caucasus, adding “Russia is interested in involving Azerbaijani businessmen in these projects”.
He said there were big opportunities for cooperation in the humanitarian and tourism fields and youth affairs.
