In the Shamkir province of Azerbaijan, the Archaeology and Ethnography Institute of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is implementing research excavation works in the cemetery near the Zayamchay River, where the BTC MEP pipeline is to pass.

According to the Institute, the end of II Millennium B.C. - beginning of I millennium A.D., a large number of material-cultural samples, adornment, bronze arms and faience ware have been discovered.

The research works will last until September.
