First F1 & GP2 cargo containers arrive in Baku City Circuit

Baku, June 14, AZERTAC
The First 40 cargo units containing team equipment for use at the 2016 FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX OF EUROPE have been delivered to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The rest of the equipment, including F1 cars themselves, will arrive in Baku from Tuesday, 14th June.
The teams usually use a combination of road, water and air routes to transport their cars, equipment and personnel to each race destination. Since all F1 teams will arrive in Azerbaijan from Canada, the first cargo containers with equipment belonging to Mercedes, Ferrari, Force India, Red Bull Racing and other teams have already been shipped straight from Sochi by water.
These containers are designed in such a way that they take up minimum space in the hold and protect the components from excessive vibrations and other external forces. They are also designed in such a way that they can be packed and unpacked in 6-8 hours.
At the same time, all the equipment and cars of the 12 teams participating in the GP2 series, the official support race at the 2016 Formula 1 European Grand Prix in Baku, have already reached the Paddock area, having been transported directly from Monaco.
Twenty two GP2 drivers will arrive in Baku on Monday, 13th June and their teams will start unloading their equipment that same day.
In total, 44 garages have already been finalized. The installation of technical equipment in the buildings located at the Paddock area is currently entering its final phase.
