ICRC OFFICIAL MEETS AZERBAIJAN`S JUSTICE MINISTER
Baku, September 28 (AZERTAC). International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) head of operations for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Pascale Meige Wagner today has met here with Azerbaijan`s justice minister Fikrat Mammadov.
The minister praised current level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and ICRC, saying the country has always felt the support of the Committee.
Mammadov talked about measures undertaken in the country to modernize the judicial system under President Ilham Aliyev`s leadership.
Wagner hailed reforms conducted in the penitentiary system of Azerbaijan. She said the government of Azerbaijan made “great” efforts to improve conditions in prisons.
ICRC official welcomed Azerbaijan`s sharing its experience with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in fighting tuberculosis in prisons.
ICRC`s new representative in Azerbaijan Cherine Pollini was present at the meeting.
