INTERIOR BODIES OF AZERBAIJAN AND TURKEY EXPAND CO-OP
Minister Usubov expressed gratitude for acceptance of his invitation to visit Azerbaijan and noted the role of nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in development and expansion of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues this policy today, he stressed. Mr. Usubov emphasized the necessity of fighting against international terrorism, organized crime and drugs trafficking. Over 200 staff members of Azerbaijan interior ministry have studied in Turkey and they are successfully working in the interior bodies, he underlined. And over 1000 police have been trained in Turkey.
Expressing gratitude for warm reception, Interior Minister of Turkey Abdulkadir Aksu said he is pleased with the existing level of cooperation between the law-enforcement bodies of fraternal countries, and convinced for further close cooperation.
Mr. Abdulkadir Aksu, in his turn, reminded historical merits of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in development of bilateral relations. He gave high assessment to activity of Azerbaijan in combat against international terrorism. Noting that ‘Turkey makes serious steps in this field’ Mr. Aksu stressed necessity of cooperation in illegal migration and human trafficking.
In the meeting, discussed were issues of development of links between the Ministries, joint staff training, exchange of data and experience, as well as strengthening of combat against terrorism and organized crime.

Minister Ramil Usubov and Minister Abdulkadir Aksu have signed appropriate protocol on cooperation between the interior ministries of two countries.
