INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “CASPIAN ECOLOGY 2003” DUE IN KAZAKHSTAN
The conference is officially supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the forum is to discuss problems, elaborate the plan of joint actions aimed at improving Caspian region’s ecology, promote establishment of long-term cooperation among scientific, governmental organizations dealing with environment control and protection of operations of companies in the Caspian region. In particular, discussions are focused on wide-range of issues, such as variety of the Caspian basin’s natural diversity, ecological state of the Caspian region, activity of oil companies and preventive measures of protection Caspian sea ecology while carrying out oil operation, application of up-to-date technologies in the offshore oil operations, measures to respond and prevent oil spill and emergencies, participation of international organization in the realization of international projects, cooperation of Caspian littoral states to improve ecological situation.
The conference will be attended by representatives of governmental organizations of five Caspian states (Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan), international organizations, and companies operating in the Caspian region. Altogether, over 150 delegates will gather at the conference.
“Caspian Ecology” show is scheduled to be held annually allowing Caspian states to get objective view of Caspian biological resources.
The second conference “Caspian Ecology 2004” is be held in autumn 2003, in Istanbul. Turkey is opted not by chance. Wide-range of issues including environment protection of Caspian and Black sea basins are expected to discuss during the conference “Caspian Ecology 2004”.
