INTERNATIONAL FRESH WATER FORUM IN DUSHANBE

An International Fresh Water Forum, initiated by the OSCE and through Tajikistani government’s support, started its work on August 30 in Dushanbe.

Over 400 representatives of international, governmental and non-governmental organizations from 50 world countries are taking part in the forum, where Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation of the State Committee for melioration and water resources.

Secretary General of OSCE Jan Kubish sent a message to the participants of the forum saying that utilization of fresh water reserves is a priority in policy of all world countries. “Water is one of the prior directions of our organization’s policy. It is not accidental that leaders of 55 member-countries discussed the issue of water resource management at the OSCE economic forum”.

The message underlined, for continuation of the dialogue and cooperation in utilization of water resources, leaders of OSCE work out the projects in this field, giving a chance to strengthen trust between the members of the organization and to prevent world competition.

Representatives of three international organizations, OSCE, UN Development Program (UNDP) and UN Environmental Program (UNEP) will announce on joint actions in environment and security.
