INT’L ORGANIZATIONS ADOPTED JOINT ADDRESS ON WORLD TEACHERS DAY
UNESCO, UNDP, World Labor Organization (WLO) and UNISEF have adopted a joint Address on the World teachers Day annually celebrated on 5 October. The Address says that the world education is undergoing a crisis connected with such factors as reduction of state budget, lack of normal work conditions, and retire by aged teachers on pension, as well as shocks, and ending of physical and moral strength as a result of which the teachers leave their profession. On estimations of experts, up to 2015 there will be needed 35 million teachers of primary schools, and without them it is impossible to achieve provision in general primary education, abolish poverty problem.
In the Address, it is requested from every community to consider the minimum requirements defined in the 1966 international recommendations on condition of good teachers and plight of teachers.
It is stated: “We request on those who are engaged in planning of curriculums for school year to think over the necessary efforts from the standpoint of re-allotment of state means and state assistance to ensure conformity of all the teachers and of the future teachers to these minimum norms”.
