KAZAKHSTAN SENT MILITARY ENGINEERS TO IRAQ
A group of 14 engineers was sent to Iraq by Kazakhstan on August 19. They are militaries from “Kazbat” peacekeeping battalion.
As Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Altinbayev informed, militaries were sent at the request of the US government. They will deal with mine clearance and finding drinking water sources. The Parliament of Kazakhstan agreed with the offer of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev put forward in May on usage of Kazakh military forces to fulfill its international commitments on establishment of peace and security in Iraq.
