KOREAN PRESIDENT MEETS MILLI MAJLIS STAFF
Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov, head of the Milli Majlis Administration Safa Mirzoyev, ambassador of Azerbaijan to China and Korea Yashar Aliyev and other officials greeted the high guest.
After private meeting of the Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament and the Korean President, a meeting of the delegations took place.
Chairman of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov, speaking of history of the relations between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea, said after regaining state independence Azerbaijan has established diplomatic links with all democratic countries and is keen in development of these ties. He expressed confidence for further development and strengthening of these ties after the current visit. The signed documents have created legal ground for this, he stressed. The Speaker emphasized that there are all conditions of foreign investments in the country and the Korean businessmen will, supposedly, invest in various fields of Azerbaijan’s economy, he underlined.
Then, Chairman of Milli Majlis informed on the ongoing democratic alterations in the country, legal, economic reforms, the accomplishments the country reached in independent years.
He also updated on work of Azerbaijan-Korea inter-parliamentary friendship group in Milli Majlis, stressing the inter-parliamentary links will expand and strengthen and in the years ahead.
President Roh Moo-hyun thanked for warm hospitality and expressed pleasure with the business forum arranged in Baku.
Azerbaijan’s dynamic development, the achievements gained in short time causes surprise and admiration, the Korean President said. Realization of large oil projects will speed up progress of the country and have influence on other branches either. We are to have closer cooperation ties with Azerbaijan. There are another documents to be completed shortly.
In the meeting, also exchanged were views on other questions of mutual interest.
