LUKOIL STARTS DRILLING NEW WELL AT YALAMA STRUCTURE
Russia`s LUKoil Overseas Ltd started the drilling of the second exploration well on the prospective block D-222 (Yalama), located in Azerbaijan section of the Caspian Sea, Vice-President of SOCAR Khoshbakht Yusifzade said.
Drilling of the first exploration well in 4.5 km depth ended in May 2006 but didn’t find any hydrocarbon resources.
Yalama Structure straddling Azerbaijani and Russian sectors of the Caspian Sea is 30 km far from the shore.
Investments in the project make up $2.5 billion.
