MEETING IN KAZAKHSTAN STATE EURASIAN UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER LEV GUMILYOV
The Head of State visited Museum of Culture and Manuscripts of Turkish speaking nations.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev also met with teaching staff and students of the University. Opening the meeting, Rector Sarsengali Abdimanapov told of the activity of this educational establishment and mentioned the State’s concern about education in the country. He read out the decision of the Academic council to bestow the title of Honorary Doctor of the University upon President Azerbaijan, and handed appropriate diploma and mantle over to Mr. I. Aliyev.
Addressing the meeting, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed to the leadership of the University and the Academic Council his gratitude for the high confidence, pointed out that prosperity of both peoples is a priority objective of the countries’ leaderships.
President Ilham Aliyev also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, and expressed his deep gratitude to President Nursultan Nazarbayev for his stance on this issue.
Afterwards, Rector of the University handed the “Gizil Doyushchu” /Golden warrior/ medal over to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
President Ilham Aliyev, in his turn, presented canvas reflecting ancient Turkish epos “Dede Gorgud“ by Azerbaijani painter Mahmud Tagiyev as a tribute to the University.

On the same day, an official reception in honor of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was given by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at “Saltanat” Palace.
