MEETING WITH CROWN PRINCE OF SAUDI ARABIA
Having thanked the Prince for the meeting, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Murtuz Alasgarov pointed out the importance of the reciprocal visits and meetings of Heads of State for development of relations between the two countries. He put special emphasis on the documents signed during the visit of nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev’s visit to the Kingdom in 1994.
Mr. Alasgarov noted that the two counties’ parliaments also play important role in development of brotherly and friendly ties between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “We have been invited by Chairman of the Consultative Council, esteemed Dr. Saleh ibn Abdalla Humeyd. I believe this visit will play important role in both development of interparliamentary links and strengthening relationship between the two countries,” he said.
Dwelling on the economic relations and successful reforms carried out in the Republic, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Murtuz Alasgarov also expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for unambiguous support of Azerbaijan in relation to Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Crown Prince Abdalla ibn Abdel Aziz Al Saud also pointed out the significance of the Heads of State reciprocal visits in development of relations between the two countries, and especially stressed the appropriate services of our nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev.
Having described the present visit as a step forward for the relationship Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, the Crown Prince underlined the importance of unity of the Islamic countries. He said: “Islamic values have always called the people for peace, justice and brotherhood and purity. It is a great honor for us to serve Islam and Islamic peoples. We will always be side by side with the people of Azerbaijan; defense of its right cause is our duty.”
In conclusion, Mr. Murtuz Alasgarov presented the book “Heydar Aliyev and the Parliament of Azerbaijan” and that of dedicated to President Ilham Aliyev to the Crown Prince.

On the same day, the members of the parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan visited the ancient village of Al-Aziriya, the city of science and techniques named after King Abdel Aziz, and then left for Mecca and Medina.
The visit will be completed on February 21.
