MEETING WITH NEW AMBASSADORS IN MILLI MAJLIS
Mr. Ziyafat Asgarov congratulated the diplomats on the new appointment, and updated them in detail on social a dn economic development and political life of our country, as well as existing problems. He noted that Azerbaijan’s relations with the mentioned countries are gradually developing, but pointed out the existence of good opportunities for expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation. The Deputy Chairman said: ”Today, extremely important energy projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Erzurum gas pipeline and the Great Silk Route are implemented in Azerbaijan. That is the reason why Azerbaijan attracts the attention of many countries. Our republic is not only an oil country but also has huge agricultural potential. After independence, Azerbaijan has been developing as a democratic, legal and civilized state”
Mr. Ziyafat Asgarov also dwelled on the hardest problem of the country – the Armenia-Azerbaijan problem over Nagorno-Karabakh, told of its reasons and consequences, and on behalf of the Milli Majlis, expressed gratitude to the Ambassadors for the support of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan by the countries they represent.
Thanked for the warm words, the Ambassadors noted that representatives of their countries closely cooperate with the representatives of Azerbaijan in the international organizations, and that positions of their countries coincides with that of Azerbaijan on most issues. They also expressed confidence in peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, victory of common sense, wisdom, truth and justice.
