MILLI MAJLIS OFFICIAL MEETS CHAIRMAN OF CZECH REPUBLIC SENATE
Baku, September 28 (AZERTAC). Chairman of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis committee on international relations and interparliamentary ties Samad Seyidov has met today with visiting Chairman of the Czech Republic Senate`s committee on European Union affairs Ludek Sefzig.
Seyidov said Azerbaijan is rapidly developing after restoring its independence, adding: “Integration into Europe is one of the main priorities of the foreign policy. We have established close relations with European countries and joined various influential international organizations.”
He stressed official Baku pays significant importance to development of relations with the Czech Republic.
Touching upon Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Seyidov said “the occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territories by Armenians creates a serious obstacle to development of not only Azerbaijan, but also whole region,” adding “this is a serious threat to peace and security in the region”.
Ludek Sefzig praised Azerbaijan`s rapid development.
Sefzig noted Azerbaijan is important country for the Czech Republic.
The Czech official underlined the aim of the visit is to exchange views on expansion of bilateral relations both bilaterally and within the Eastern Partnership program.
“Azerbaijan has rich natural resources. But we don`t want to our relations be based on the oil factor only. We are keen on development of strong friendly ties with Azerbaijan. We also understand Azerbaijan`s sore problem. We favor peace resolution of every conflict within international legal norms and territorial integrity of the countries,” he said.
Seyidov noted Azerbaijan backs peaceful settlement of the conflict and official Baku has accepted Madrid Principles.
