MINISTER OF JUSTICE OF AZERBAIJAN VISITED AUSTRIA
The links between the justice bodies of the two countries were established last year during the visit of the Austrian justice minister to Azerbaijan.
In the course of the visit, Minister Fikrat Mammadov has held meetings the justice minister of Austria Dieter Bomdorffer, chairman of the Supreme Court Johan Reshutt, Prosecutor General Walter Preslawer, head of the parliamentary standing committee on legal issues Maria Teresia Facter, deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court Brigit Birline, head of the police bodies of the internal Ministry Erick Buksbaum.
During the meetings, Minister Mammadov updated his colleagues on the legal reforms in Azerbaijan, on the activity of the law-enforcement bodies of the Republic. The Minister also spoke of the history of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and its heavy sequences for the Country. The parties gave a positive assessment to the existing level of cooperation between the law-enforcement bodies of the two countries, expressing hope for further development of them. The ministers signed a Cooperation Program, which is the continuation of the Memo approved in 2003.
During the visit, Minister Mammadov met the UN Deputy Secretary General, Executive Director of the UN Drug and Crime Control Department Antonio Costa. The sides reminded the visit of the latter to Azerbaijan in 2003 and his talks with President Heydar Aliyev and focused ways of implementation of the mentioned questions.
Justice minister of Azerbaijan visited the jail in the Josephschdat region of Vienna, after which met with the media representatives, answered their questions.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria Vagif Sadigov participated at the meetings.
