“Moldovskiye Vedomosti” publish interview with Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Moldova
Baku, May 16 (AZERTAC). The "Moldovskiye Vedomosti” newspaper published an interview with the ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Moldova Professor Namik Aliyev.
The interview covers provisions of the National Action Program to improve the protection of the rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan, AZERTAC learned from the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Moldova.
In an interview, the ambassador says, that the program once again defines human rights as a priority policy of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, his vision of Azerbaijan as a modern democratic state with a developed economy and social policy, which occupies a strong position in the region."
By specifying the sequence of the work done, the ambassador emphasizes that “in 1998, national leader Heydar Aliyev signed a decree on measures to be taken in the field of human rights and freedoms, and in June of that year he approved a state program for the protection of human rights."
In conclusion, the ambassador stated that "Azerbaijan in all international organizations raises the issue of refugees and internally displaced persons. The European Court of Human Rights is considering more than a thousand applications from citizens of Azerbaijan, who were driven out from their homes as a result of Armenian aggression. We expect that in the near future the European Court will pass a decision on the first of these applications. The work carried out to protect the interests of our citizens, gives us every reason to hope for a positive resolution of this issue."
