NABUCCO APPOINTS GRAYLING FOR INTERNATIONAL BRIEF
Baku, June 19 (AZERTAC). Grayling, the global public relations, public affairs, investor relations and events consultancy has been appointed by Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH to provide public relations and public affairs services across Europe, said Ilgar Karimov, representative of the company in Azerbaijan.
He said Grayling would be assisting Nabucco in the development phase of the pipeline and will have responsibility for international media relations, public affairs, local press and community relations. Karimov stated the six figure account was won by Grayling following a three-way pitch and covers activity in London, Brussels and the Nabucco transit countries (Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey) and Azerbaijan.
Christian Dolezal, Head of Communications & Public Affairs, Nabucco Gas Pipeline GmbH commented: “We have appointed Grayling after a six-month pitch process during which time we spoke to the top international agencies. We felt that Grayling`s offer was superior in that it would provide us with a centrally coordinated and highly effective one-stop shop for all our communications needs. The Grayling team convinced us with their strong expertise of the industry and region and we look forward to working with them.”
Michael Murphy, CEO Grayling said: “We are delighted to have won the Nabucco account against the leaders in our industry as it signifies a strong endorsement of our broader offering and highlights the particular combination of our expertise in Central and Eastern European countries with our strength in Brussels and London. The campaign will be driven out of London in conjunction with our CEE offices, with strong support from Russell Patten - Grayling`s newly appointed Energy, Environment & Industry Head - and his team in Brussels on the EU public affairs side. ”
The account will be headed up by Grayling`s Chris Dobson, head of Central & Eastern Europe and Louise Ballard, MD Corporate.
The Nabucco Pipeline is Europe`s flagship pipeline project in the southern corridor. The 3,300km pipeline will connect the world`s richest gas regions - the Caspian region, Middle East and Egypt - to the Turkish and European consumer markets. It will make a significant contribution to natural gas supply security for Turkey, South-Eastern, Central and Western Europe and will run from Turkey via Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary to the Baumgarten gas hub in Vienna, Austria. Construction is due to start in 2011 with first gas flowing in 2014.
