OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA MIKHAIL SAAKASHVILI TO AZERBAIJAN
At the airport, President of Georgia was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizadeh, foreign minister Vilayat Guliyev, ambassador of Georgia in Baku Zurab Gumberidze, ambassador of Azerbaijan in Tbilisi Hajan Hajiyev.
Children in national dress forwarded to the President of Georgia bouquet of flowers.
At the airport, responding to the media representatives, Head of the Georgian state said: “It is a unique chance for me to become closely acquainted with the new leader of Azerbaijan. I have great sympathy for him and I am ready to learn from him. I attentively watch his career, his activity. I think, we are lucky that our countries, in particular, Azerbaijan have such a leader. Many in Georgia love Ilham Aliyev and have sympathy for him. He is well known in Georgia. I think that we together can do many for our peoples, for our region. The former leadership that I respected very much had also close links with the leadership of Georgia. These relations will go ahead, expand. Azerbaijan is a significant partner and friend for Georgia. I regret I did not make my first visit to Baku. But my heart always called me to Baku. As all the Georgians, I love Baku too very much.
Touching upon the issues to be discussed with President Ilham Aliyev, Head of Georgia said: “We want the jointly realized economic projects to be completed successfully. I would like to support each other in the international organizations. When I was abroad my close friends were Azerbaijanis. We should assist each other to strengthen our positions in the international arena. Our foreign police go in line.
From the airport, President of Georgia was escorted to his residence – the “Ulduz” Palace in Baku.
