OMBUDSPERSON OF AZERBAIJAN MEETS HEAD OF UN COMMITTEE ON RIGHTS OF CHILD
Elmira Suleymanova updated the visitor on status of human rights, including the children rights in the country, the works done to protect human rights. She said thousands of Azeri children had been deprived of these rights as a result of Armenian aggression, informed on the care and attention the government of Azerbaijan renders to the handicapped, orphans and children deprived of parental care.
Mr. Suleymanova also updated on the work carried out for juvenile prisoners in the places of confinement.
Consultation with the UN Committee on Rights of Child would render assistance in our activity in this direction, Ms. Suleymnaova said and invited Jacob Doek to cooperate.
Jacob Doek thanked for exchange of views and detailed information, recommended to increase recourses to conduct monitoring on child rights and expressed hope for further cooperation.
