PACE MISSION SAYS REPEAT PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS WERE DEMOCRATIC
Head of the PACE observation mission Leo Platvoet told a press conference today he witnessed a substantial progress in conduct of the May 13, 2006 re-run of the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. He also expressed satisfaction with the course of the pre-election campaign saying it was held in a calm and democratic atmosphere. According to Mr. Platvoet, in general, the electoral process was very well and professionally organized. He praised accuracy of voter’s lists and the fact of marking voters’ fingers with indelible ink, mentioning, at the same time, some problems arisen during the voting process.
