PACE RAPPORTEUR MEETS WITH HEAD OF AZERBAIJAN DELEGATION TO COE
Warmly welcoming the guest, Samad Seyidov said: this visit is of great importance for Azerbaijan, and timed to heavy day, the anniversary of Khojali tragedy. You know that the Khojali genocide is one of the bloodiest actions committed by Armenians during Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We want this fact to be brought in detail to the international community. At the same time, we are trying the conflict to be settled soon. We are happy that the Council of Europe has put the issue on the agenda. The delegation of the Azerbaijan Parliament wants your report to be fair and objective, and reflect true situation of Azerbaijan in the region.
Having thanked for the warm meeting, Mr. Terry Davis said this was his second visit to Azerbaijan, and that during the first one he had promised President Heydar Aliyev to visit the conflict zone. He stressed that this time, he had been closer acquainted with the situation, and that what he could promise is just to try the report to be fair and objective.
Mr. Terry Davis added as well that the conflictВ’s consequences had not been given due appraisal so far, and not due effort had been taken for its urgent resolution.
