On May 19, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received at the Presidential palace American cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who also is the Artistic Director and Founder of the Silk Road project.

The cellist said he had been looking forward to visiting Azerbaijan, and was really happy to arrive in the country at last.

He advised he had earlier met with a number of representatives of the Azerbaijani culture, and concluded that over the last few years, great work had been done for cultural development in the country.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with seeing such a prominent musician as Yo-Yo Ma in Azerbaijan, and pointed out the importance of such visits for the worldwide popularization of the Azerbaijani culture.
