PRIME-MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVED PRESIDENT OF EUROPEAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE
Congratulating Ilham Aliyev on the appointment to the high state post and expressing satisfaction in this regard, the Head of the European Paralympic Committee noted this appointment would serve the cause of strengthening political stability in the country, its economic prosperity, and development of sport movement in Azerbaijan. He stated as well the achievements of the Azerbaijani athletes, who have gained a lot of awards in the World championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the large-scale construction of sports facilities throughout the country, are internationally well known. Mr. Bob Price thanked the Prime-Minister for his constant care about paralympians. He announced that the European Paralympic Committee plans to make a decision on holding one of the international tournaments among disabled athletes in Baku.
Expressing his gratitude to the guest for the warm words, Ilham Aliyev told him about main stages of sport development in our country, and noted that many international federations, taking into account the factor of political stability in the Republic and achievements of the Azerbaijani sportsmen, include Azerbaijan in the calendar of sporting events very often. In support of these words, the Prime-Minister announced that Azerbaijan would host three Olympic qualifying tournaments next year.
Speaking of the development of paralympic movement in Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev said the Government had been taking constant care of the sportsmen-invalids, and announced that the project of construction of the sports complex for paralympians in Baku had already been prepared.
