Russia hails relations with Azerbaijan
Moscow, July 19 (AZERTAC). Deputy Chairman of Russia`s Federation Council Svetlana Orlova has praised her country`s relations with Azerbaijan.
“Great work has been done to develop the relations between our countries,” Orlova told Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov who is on a visit to Moscow.
She praised a recent Russia-Azerbaijan humanitarian forum in Baku.
“The forum, which has already gained an international status, produced good results. We believe the next forum will be much more wide-ranging.”
“We are preparing for the next humanitarian forum more seriously. Russia will be represented in this forum with a large delegation. A number of very interesting and pressing issues are expected to be discussed. We are very glad that we cooperate very actively with Azerbaijan in humanitarian sphere,” Orlova added.
She also praised a recent Moscow-hosted celebrative event to mark the anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence.
“We in Moscow still remember the wonderful concert the Heydar Aliyev Foundation organized in the Kremlin to mark the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence.”
“It was very well-organized. Both President Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva are doing a great and important work,” Orlova said.
Mammadyarov lauded his talks with Russian FM Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
“We discussed all scopes of bilateral relations with Mr. Lavrov.”
Mammadyarov thanked Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for his “personal initiative and willingness” to achieve progress in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict resolution.
The FM emphasized the importance of active cooperation between parliaments of the two countries within international organizations.
The minister also highlighted preparations for the international humanitarian forum to be held in Azerbaijan under the auspices of the two countries`s leaders.
“This forum will testify to the high-level ties between Azerbaijan and Russia,” Mammadyarov added.
