Sochi hosts 23rd meeting of CIS Information Council

The Council of Heads of State News Agencies of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Information Council) has convened in Sochi for its 23rd meeting. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students.
The event was attended by representatives of member agencies of the organization, including AZERTAC (Azerbaijan), TASS (Russia), BELTA (Belarus) and Kazinform (Kazakhstan).
First deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergei Kiriyenko also attended the meeting.
Chairman of the Information Council, General Director of TASS news agency Sergey Mikhaylov noted that 2018 was declared the Year of Culture in the Commonwealth of Independent States, and in this regard, the participating agencies will pay more attention to cultural values of the peoples of the Commonwealth countries.
Summing up the results of the activity of the Council in 2017, the participants of the meeting discussed topical issues of mutual interaction between the state news agencies in 2018.
They also exchanged views on problems of modern journalism.
