STATE OF FRENCH LANGUAGE IN AZERBAIJAN SCHOOLS DISCUSSED
In his opening speech, head of the Institute Isa Mammadov stated that so quick integration of
Azerbaijan into the world community became possible due to the wise policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
According to Mammadov, expanding international relations of Azerbaijan claims training of personnel potential, fluently speaking in foreign languages.
He reminded that every year, with the promotion of the Embassy of France, 1-2 students from Azerbaijan leave for this country to educate. Besides, in frame of Tempus-TACIS program, € 3 mln was spent for reequipment of the faculties of French languages.
Deputy Minister of Education Elmar Gasimov touched on the state policy in the field of foreign language development. Deputy Minister stated that within past year, number of foreigners studying at the Universities of the Republic reached from 1850 up to 2400 men. He particularly stressed the activity of the Embassies of US, Germany, Great Britain, Israel and Egypt in the field of development of cultural relations with the Republic.
Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Chantal Poiret stated that Embassy allocated grants for the best students of Azerbaijani Universities, and the best graduators will be spent for the free courses to France.
The seminar was attended by responsible secretary of Azerbaijan national commission for UNESCO, Ambassador Ramiz Abutalibov and other officials.
