STATEMENT BY CAUCASIAN MUSLIMS BOARD
Expressing the will of the millions of worshippers living in the large geographical area, from the Black to the Caspian seas and bringing our deep indignation and anger to the world community we hereby state the following:
In no way, we, Caucasian Muslims, an integral part of the Islamic world, can put up with insulting our holy religious sentiments. In this sense, we see deliberate humiliation of Islamic values in some West-European countries, disrespectful attitude towards the last prophet Mohammad as a real crime. We consider it as a provocation against Muslims and all humankind with the aim to create embarrassment and hostility in the human family, set off confrontation inside some countries, among people of different religions and spark a trend of intolerance.
It is an extremely dangerous manifestation and we regret that such trends are spreading in some European countries that boast of their democratic values and claim a leading role in solving many global problems and try to serve as an example in some spheres. We unambiguously state that Islamic world including Azerbaijan show tactful attitude to all world religions, their dogmas and attributes. We, Muslims, see it as a moral imperative that is rooted in the divine book – the Holy Koran.
The book Truths of Islam tells with respect about all the prophets: Abraham, Moses and Jesus are mentioned as predecessors of Muhammad. From this standpoint, the Muslims, naturally, have the right to demand the same attitude towards Prophet Muhammad. We want to believe that representatives of other religions – religious figures and believers - will voice their protest against that dirty act, which caused Muslim’s deepest concern, and will do all possible to redirect the inter-religious relations in the right path. It is extremely important for well-being of our world, safeguarding of international stability, and prevention of confrontation between civilizations.
Expressing the will of the millions of Muslims of the region, the Caucasian Muslims Board is hereby making a resolute protest against the governments of Denmark and some other European counties, demanding from them to apologize to the Muslims of the world, and take necessary measures to prevent reiteration of such indecent cases, which are unworthy of civilized society, and seek punishment of those responsible for the situation emerged.
At the same time we are urging our Muslim brothers and sisters not to yield to such provocations, but demonstrate commitment to highest spiritual values, which our sacred religion teaches us.
