‘TANAP is able to meet Europe`s needs of gas’
Baku, November 22 (AZERTAC). “TANAP is able to meet Europe`s needs of gas,” said President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev.
According to Abdullayev, Azerbaijan`s gas reserves hit more than three trillion cubic meters, which promotes the development of the export potential of the country.
He noted that Azerbaijan`s export potential will be at least 40-45 billion cubic meters in 2025 after new gas sources are used.
"There is a need in the new gas pipeline to export gas in such volumes," he said.
The SOCAR President said that at the first stage the volume of gas to be transported through TANAP gas pipeline will be 16 billion cubic meters.
"In the future, the possibility of increasing the gas supply through TANAP to 30 billion cubic meters will be considered," Abdullayev added.
TANAP envisages transporting of gas from Shah Deniz field to Europe via Turkey. The initial capacity of the pipeline is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters per year. About six billion cubic meters will be supplied to Turkey and the rest will be delivered to Europe.
