US ambassador visits new synagogue in Baku
Baku, March 16 (AZERTAC). US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza, US Department of State`s special envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Hannah Rosenthal and special representative to Muslim communities Farah Pandith visited a new synagogue in Baku.
Chairman of mountain Jews community in Azerbaijan Semen Ihiilov updated the officials on activity of the community, history and stages of construction of the new Jewish church-house in Baku.
Mr. Bryza congratulated the members of the Jewish community on a new synagogue and wished them success in the future activity.
“Azerbaijan is well-known for its ethnic and religious tolerance, absence of anti-Semitism and the new synagogue in Baku funded by the government is a vivid evidence of it”, said ambassador.
