Uzeir Hajibeyli`s birthday marked in California
Los Angeles, September 19 (AZERTAC). A classical music concert was organized at the residence of the Azerbaijan Consulate General in California as part of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Concert Series.
The concert supported by the Azerbaijan Consulate General in L.A., featured pianist Thimotey Andres, clarinetist Derek Bermel and conductor Jeffrey Kahane performing Mozart, Brahms and Schumann.
The musicians also performed an original, instrumental version of “Sensiz” romance by outstanding Azerbaijani composer Uzeir Hajibeyli, whose birthday is marked on September 18 annually.
Addressing the music evening, Consul General of Azerbaijan Elin Suleymanov spoke about the great contrition of Uzeir Hajibeyli to the development of Azerbaijan music and Azerbaijan music tradition.
Uzeir Hajibeyli was an Azerbaijani composer, conductor, publicist, playwright, teacher, translator, and social figure of Azerbaijan. He is recognized as the father of Azerbaijani classical music and opera. Uzeir Hajibeyli composed music for the national anthem of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (which is also the anthem of the modern Republic of Azerbaijan) and the state anthem of Azerbaijan SSR. He is the first Muslim author of an opera.
