VLADIMIR PUTIN RE-ELECTED AS RF PRESIDENT

Vladimir Putin has been re-elected as president of Russia for the second term. Most Russians voted for the incumbent President. According to Chairman of the Central Elections Committee of Russia Alexander Vishnyakov, Vladimir Putin gained 71,2 percent of votes. 48 million 918 thousand 513 voters participated in the elections. He said 99 percent of protocols had been processed.

Other presidential contenders were initially far behind Vladimir Putin. Experts share the opinion that Vladimir Putin’s convincing victory was not unexpected for both Russians and President himself. At a press conference, V. Putin expressed satisfaction that returns turned out to be higher than last year’s. He thanked Russia nationals for participation in the elections and support of his candidacy.

Later, President assured people that political course of the country would be continued and democratic achievements would be ensured.
