YAP URGES INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TO PUNISH KHOJALI GENOCIDE PERPETRATORS
Opening the meeting YAP deputy executive secretary, Milli Majlis deputy Mubariz Gurbanli stated that nationwide leader President Heydar Aliyev could make Khojali genocide be recognized politically and legally.
Speakers told of the Khojali tragedy horrors and murderous deeds of Armenians. Khojali became a victim of Armenian barbarism, negligence and irresponsibility of then-leadership of Azerbaijan. They called on patriots of Azerbaijan to put efforts together in order to draw attention of the world community to Khojali genocide.
The meeting participants adopted an address to the United Nations, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe.
The address says:
“On the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed groups supporting by the 366th regiment of the Red Army deployed in Khankendi, swooped on Khojali and committed atrocities over civilians. The city was wiped off the map and 613 people were brutally killed. Of them 106 were women 83 – infants. 56 people were killed with extremely brutal methods. Over 1000 civilians were wounded and injured, 1275 people were taken hostage. Of them 700 people are still in captivity.
International community did assessed politically and legally the bloody act in due course. It made them frenzy. As a result, Armenia occupied 17 thousand square km (20 percent) of Azerbaijani territory including Nagorno-Garabakh region, over million people were ousted from their native lands. ”
The address concludes with the following words:
“Addressing the country-members of the UN, OSCE and Council of Europe, YAP asks to assess Khojali tragedy as genocide committed against Azerbaijan people, help to bring truth of this act to the world community and punish perpetrators.”
