15 YEARS ELAPSED SINCE OCCUPATION OF KALBAJAR BY ARMENIA
Fifteen years have elapsed since the day of occupation of Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar district by Armenian armed forces.
As known, on March 27, 1993, the Armenian armed forces started attack to the district which resulted with occupation of the area on April 2.
During the occupation of Kalbajar (1936 Square Kilometer) 511 innocent people were killed by Armenians, 320 people were taken prisoner and 53340 became IDPs. Azerbaijan lost its 55 servicemen.
Occupying the region, Armenians took control over 132 buildings and destroyed 116 libraries, 97 schools, 43 clubs, 42 culture houses, 9 kindergartens and hospitals.
After the occupation, UN Security Council adopted special Resolution (#822) demanding unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Kalbajar and other Azerbaijan’s occupied areas.
