Azerbaijani judoka wins bronze medal at Judo 2026 World Championships

Azerbaijani judoka Rashid Mammadaliyev has secured a bronze medal at the World Judo Championships held in Baku.
Competing in the 73 kg weight category, Mammadaliyev defeated Brazil’s Daniel Cargnin in the bronze-medal bout to finish third in the world.
Other Azerbaijani judokas who competed today bowed out of the tournament, with Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) losing in the Round of 16 and Khadija Gadashova (57 kg) eliminated in the Round of 64.
The World Championships, hosted at the National Gymnastics Arena, will conclude on October 11. On the opening day of the competition, Azerbaijani judoka Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) won the gold medal to become world champion.
