38th OANA Executive Board Meeting opens in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, February 14, AZERTAC

The 38th Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) has kicked off in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

The meeting was opened by first deputy Director General of TASS, which now chairs the organization, Mikhail Gusman.

General Manager of Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Datuk Zulkefli Salleh addressed the event.

The meeting featured the signing of agreements between Vietnamese VNA news agency and Bernama; Turkish Anadolu Agency and Bernama; Korean news agency Yonhap and OANA; the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) and OANA.

Participants of the meeting made country reports.

The meeting heard proposals related to the activation of the organization`s work and improvement of its website.

The board decided to hold its next, 39th, meeting in Seoul this November.

AZERTAC was represented by special correspondents in Germany Vugar Seyidov and in Hungary Parvana Garayeva.

On the sidelines of the event the participants discussed preparations for the News Agencies World Congress due to take place in Baku in November, 2016.
