Executive Committee Chairman: CIS states interested in keeping Ukraine as member

Minsk, October 11, AZERTAC

“The CIS countries would like to see Ukraine retain its membership in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS),” Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev has told journalists, BelTA reports.

“All believe that Ukraine benefits from its membership in the CIS, participation in the integration project and having good relations with the CIS countries. Of course, it is also in the interest of the CIS member states because we are neighbors and should cooperate,” Lebedev said.

“The CIS Executive Committee has received a notice from Kyiv that it will not invite CIS monitors to observe the parliamentary and presidential elections in Ukraine next year,” he added.
