President Ilham Aliyev sends letters to Presidents of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

Baku, October 3, AZERTAC

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has addressed letters to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

In his letters, the head of state said that Armenia launched another military provocation against Azerbaijan and shelled from several directions Azerbaijani settlements, as well as military positions, using various types of weapons, including heavy artillery on September 27. "As a result of this provocation, Azerbaijani servicemen and civilians were killed and wounded. The Azerbaijani Army has launched a counter-offensive operation."

President Ilham Aliyev noted that the Armenian attack was a pre-planned military provocation. “Armenia leadership's statements aimed at disrupting the negotiation process, the military provocations committed in July-August and the illegal settlement of foreign citizens in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan show that Armenia has not given up its aggressive policy and is preparing for a new war.

The head of state reiterated Azerbaijan's position that the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved within the framework of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and in accordance with the norms and principles of international law and the requirements of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Touching upon the statement of the Turkic Council of September 28, 2020, on the importance of resolving the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as soon as possible on the basis of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev thanked President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov for this statement.
