Air France flight attendants call strike
Baku, October 29 (AZERTAC). Air France (AF) warned that flight operations will be disrupted Oct. 29 owing to strike action called by some unions representing flight attendants. AF said it expects up to 80% of flights should be operating.
The largest union representing cabin crew is not taking part in the industrial action.
“Air France regrets the disruption of flight operations caused by a flight attendants` strike on the eve of major holiday departures. The company apologizes to its customers and regrets finding itself held hostage under these conditions,” it said in a statement.
The company said it does “not understand the reasons for the strike” as it has been negotiating continuously since last July with the unions representing flight attendants. “During these discussions, Air France management has made commitments regarding the employment of cabin crew and crew composition and has responded positively to the unions` requests,” it said, noting that the responses were accepted by the leading union organization.
